# Make a key. Paste one line.

> Make a key in Settings › MCP setup and paste one command or file. Claude Code, Cursor, Codex CLI and more then work on your site as you.

Terminals and editors connect to PixelGlass with a staff key. **MCP setup writes the command or the config file for your app with the key already in it**, so there is nothing to fill in.

## By hand, in the admin

1. In your site's admin, open **Settings › MCP setup** and choose your app under **Which app do you use?**
2. Press **Make key**. The text to paste appears, with your key in it.
3. Copy it now: it is shown only once.
4. For Claude Code or Gemini CLI, paste it into your terminal and press Enter. For Codex CLI, Cursor, VS Code or Windsurf, paste it into the file MCP setup names.
5. Start the app and ask it for something.

For Claude Desktop, the Claude connector signs in without a key and works in the desktop app too. The keyed setup is there if that does not work.

## With your agent

> Write a post from my notes in drafts/launch.md and leave it as a draft on my site.

> Upload the pictures in the photos folder to my site's library and give me their addresses.

> Find where my theme writes the author line and show me the template.

The tools it calls: `create_post`, `upload_media`, `search_theme`, `read_theme_file`.

## Examples

- **Release notes from the repository.** A developer tool's team asks Claude Code to turn the changelog into a post. **The draft waits in the admin before the release ships.**
- **A theme in the editor.** A designer works on her theme from Cursor, beside her other projects, and checks each page with a render.
- **Pictures from a folder.** A photographer's agent uploads a shoot from a folder on his laptop and writes the gallery post around it.

## Questions

### Which coding agents work with PixelGlass?

Claude Code, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, and Claude Desktop. Settings › MCP setup has the command or the config file for each one, with your key in it.

### How do I connect Claude Code to PixelGlass?

In Settings › MCP setup, choose Claude Code and press Make key. Paste the command it shows into your terminal, press Enter, then start Claude Code.

### Is a staff key safe?

A PixelGlass staff key acts as you, inside your role. It is shown once, PixelGlass keeps only a digest of it, and Remove in Settings › MCP setup disconnects it at once.

### Can a coding agent edit my theme?

Yes, when the key belongs to the owner or an admin. It reads and writes the theme's files with the same tools as any other agent.

### Does each app need its own key?

Make key gives each app a key named after it, so Your keys in Settings › MCP setup shows which app is which, and you can remove one alone.
