# Your agent makes the card. You fill it in.

> Ask your agent for a card you will use again, such as a carousel or a pull quote, then insert it and fill it in the editor, in any post.

A card type is a card your agent makes once for your site: a carousel, a pull quote with a portrait, a pricing row. **You insert it in any post and fill in its fields**, and the site shows it in your theme's fonts.

**Early access.** This guide uses a feature in early access. PixelGlass turns it on for a publication on request while it is new.

## By hand, in the admin

1. Ask your agent for the card. When it is written, it is in the editor at once.
2. In the editor, open **Blocks** and choose **Custom blocks**. Search, and pick the card by its title.
3. Fill its fields in the card's box: text, links, pictures, switches, and lists of them with **Add**.
4. Read the **Card preview** beside the fields, then publish the post as usual.

No screen makes a card type; your agent writes it as files in your site's folder. Filling one in is yours, in the editor.

## With your agent

> Make me a carousel card with a picture and a caption on each slide, and a switch to play it on its own.

> Make a pull-quote card with the quote, the person's name and a small portrait, in our theme's fonts.

> Add a caption under each picture to the carousel card, and keep the fields posts already use.

The tools it calls: `list_site_pages`, `read_site_page`, `write_site_page`, `edit_site_page`, `render_page`, `site_pages_history`, `restore_site_pages`.

## Examples

- **A carousel for a photo club.** A photo club's agent makes a carousel card. **Each member fills it with their own pictures** in their weekly post.
- **Testimonials for a yoga studio.** A yoga studio asks for a quote card with a portrait and a name, and uses it on every class page.

## Questions

### What is a card type on PixelGlass?

A card your agent makes once for your site, which any writer then inserts from the editor's Blocks menu, under Custom blocks, and fills in.

### How is a card type different from a block?

A block is one program in one post, in a sandboxed frame. A card type is markup on the page itself, in your theme's look, made again from the writer's data every time the page renders.

### What fields can a card have?

Text, a link, a picture, a yes or no switch, and a list of those. The editor makes the controls from the card's definition.

### Does my agent's code run in the editor?

No. The editor's controls are PixelGlass's own, and the card's preview runs in a sandboxed frame. The card's script runs only on your site.

### Who can make a card type?

An admin's or the owner's agent, which writes it with write_site_page. Every write is a version, and restore_site_pages takes it back. Card types are an early prototype.
