# Every reader. One list.

> Find any reader by name or address, filter by status, plan, newsletter and label, add a person by hand, and change many members at once.

Audience is every reader of your publication, free or paid. Search it, narrow it, **tick the people a filter finds and change them all at once**: a newsletter, a label, an export.

## By hand, in the admin

1. Open **Audience**. Search by **Name or email**, and narrow the list with **Status**, **Plan**, **Newsletter** and **Label**.
2. Press **Add** to add one person by hand: an email, a name, labels and the newsletters they join. No email is sent.
3. Open a member's page to change their name, address or labels, confirm their address, or press **View as this person**.
4. Tick members, or select all a filter finds, and use the bar: subscribe or unsubscribe a newsletter, add or remove a label, export or delete.
5. Press **Export all**, or export the people a filter finds, and download a CSV.

## With your agent

> Give the Supporter badge to ana@example.com, leo@example.com and kim@example.com.

> Take the Beta tester badge back from sam@example.com.

The tools it calls: `list_badges`, `award_badge`, `take_back_badge`.

No tool reads or changes the member list itself, so filters, labels, newsletters and exports stay on the Audience screen. Your agent acts on a member by their address, for badges. A developer's code reaches the list through the admin's JSON with a staff key.

## Examples

- **Everyone who came to the workshop.** A pottery studio labels its workshop guests Workshop. **One filter finds them**, and the bar subscribes them all to the Classes newsletter.
- **A reader who wrote in.** A reader emails a bookshop's newsletter to ask to join. An admin presses Add, types the address, and ticks the newsletter. No confirmation email goes out.
- **A clean list before a launch.** A game studio filters for Pending addresses, exports them as a CSV for its records, then deletes them.

## Questions

### How do I find a member on PixelGlass?

Open Audience and type a name or an address. Narrow the list by status, plan, newsletter or label, and the address of the page keeps the filter.

### Can I add a member by hand?

Yes. Press Add on the Audience screen. The member is confirmed, joins the newsletters you tick, and gets no email.

### What is a label?

A word your team puts on members to find them later. A label nobody wears any more is gone.

### Can I change many members at once?

Yes. Tick them, or select all a filter finds, then subscribe or unsubscribe a newsletter, add or remove a label, export them or delete them.

### Can I delete many members at once?

Yes. You type how many to confirm, and you can download a CSV of them first. A member with a paid plan is deleted on their own page, where the plan ends.

### Who can see and change the member list?

Editors and above see it. Admins and the owner add, change, export and delete members.
