# Your posts. Your conversation.

> Hide a comment, show it again or delete it with its replies, ban a reader from commenting, and close a post's conversation. By hand or with your agent.

Members comment under your posts, reply and vote. **Every comment is on one screen**, newest first, where an editor hides it, shows it again or deletes it with its replies.

## By hand, in the admin

1. Open **Comments** in the admin. Every comment on your posts and pages is there, newest first.
2. Use **Status** to see only the comments that are Shown, or only the Hidden ones.
3. Press **Hide** to take a comment off the site, and **Show again** to bring it back. **Delete** removes it with its replies.
4. To stop one reader, open their page in **Audience** and press **Ban from commenting**. **Lift the ban** undoes it.
5. To close a conversation, open the post's settings drawer and turn off **Comments**.

## With your agent

> Close comments on every post older than a year.

> Open comments on the About page.

> Turn comments off on “Our statement on the strike” before I publish it.

The tools it calls: `list_posts`, `update_post_settings`.

No tool reads, hides or deletes a reader's comment, so moderation stays on the Comments screen. Your agent opens and closes the conversation on any post or page it may edit.

## Examples

- **A heated thread, cooled.** A politics newsletter hides two comments that cross the line and **bans one reader from commenting**. The reader still reads every post.
- **Quiet on the announcements.** A software studio asks its agent to turn comments off on every release note, and keeps them open on the essays.
- **A conversation on the about page.** A podcast opens comments on its About page, so listeners can say hello where the hosts introduce themselves.

## Questions

### How do I moderate comments on PixelGlass?

Open Comments in the admin. Hide a comment, show it again, or delete it with its replies. On a member's page you can ban them from commenting.

### Who can moderate comments?

Editors, admins and the owner. Authors write, and do not moderate.

### What can a banned member still do?

A banned member still reads every post they may read, and still votes. Where the comment form was, the site says that they cannot comment.

### Are PixelGlass comments plain text?

Yes. A comment is plain text up to 5,000 characters, so no reader can put markup or a script on your page.

### Who can comment on a paid post?

Only the readers the post is for. A reader outside sees the paywall in place of the post and its conversation.

### How do I hear about new comments?

Every new comment is a notification for the editors, admins and the owner, in Notifications in the admin.
