# A tag for each subject. A page for each tag.

> Tag posts as you write, make the first tag the primary one, and give every tag its own page on your site. By hand or with your agent.

Type a tag's name in a post's settings and PixelGlass makes the tag. **The first tag is the primary one**, and every tag gets a page of its own on your site.

## By hand, in the admin

1. Open **Post settings** in the editor, type a name under **Tags** and press Enter. A new name makes a new tag.
2. Keep the most important tag first: it is the primary tag.
3. As you type, the field offers the tags you already have. Remove one with its button.
4. To tag many posts, tick them on the posts list, choose **Tag**, type the name and press **Add tag**.
5. Filter the posts list by **Tag** to see what each one holds, or the posts without one.

## With your agent

> List my tags and how many posts each one has.

> Tag my last ten posts by subject, using the tags I already have.

> Make Interviews the first tag on every post in the series “Studio visits”.

The tools it calls: `list_tags`, `list_posts`, `update_post_settings`, `change_posts`.

## Examples

- **A wine shop's three regions.** A wine shop tags each tasting note by region, so **each region has its own page** the shop can link from its menu.
- **A podcast's show notes.** A podcast tags each episode post with its subjects. Listeners follow one subject from its tag page.

## Questions

### How do I add a tag to a post on PixelGlass?

Open Post settings in the editor and type the tag's name under Tags. A name that is new makes a new tag.

### What is a primary tag?

The first tag on a post. A theme can show it on the post, and PixelGlass puts it in the post's breadcrumbs for search engines.

### Does each tag have its own page?

Yes. Every tag has an archive at /tag/ and its slug, in every theme, and the tags are in your site's sitemap.

### Can I tag many posts at once?

Yes. Tick them on the posts list, choose Tag, type the name and press Add tag or Remove tag.

### Can my agent tag posts?

Yes. It reads your tags with list_tags, sets one post's tags with update_post_settings, and adds or removes a tag on many posts with change_posts.
