# Make a tier. Get paid for the work.

> Connect Stripe, Paystack or Dodo Payments, make tiers with monthly and yearly prices, and lock posts for the readers who pay. No platform fee.

A tier is what your publication sells: a name, a price a month, a price a year, or both. **Readers pay into your own provider account**, and PixelGlass takes no cut of it.

## By hand, in the admin

1. In **Settings › Payments**, choose Stripe, Paystack or Dodo Payments under **Sell through**, give the key it asks for, if any, and press **Connect**. Only the owner connects a provider.
2. Press **New tier**. Give it a name, a description and a price for **A month**, **A year** or both.
3. Under **What it includes**, write one benefit per line. Readers see them on the plans screen.
4. Leave **On sale** on and press **Save**. The tier is for sale on your site at once.
5. In a post's settings, set **Who can read** to Paid members only or Specific tiers.

Tiers are an admin's to make. A tier with members is archived, never deleted: its members keep it, and new readers cannot choose it.

## With your agent

> Make every post tagged Field notes for paying members only.

> Write a /membership page that shows each tier on sale, its prices and what it includes, with a button to the plans.

> Lock “The full survey results” for the Studio tier alone.

The tools it calls: `list_posts`, `change_posts`, `update_post_settings`, `write_site_page`, `render_page`.

No tool connects a provider or makes a tier: the money side stays in Settings › Payments. A site page, which an admin's agent writes, reads the tiers on sale from the site itself, so it follows every change you make there.

## Examples

- **A newsletter with one tier.** A climate reporter sells one tier, Supporter, at a price a month and a lower price a year. **Every second post is for supporters**; the rest stay public.
- **Two tiers for two kinds of reader.** A design studio's journal sells Reader for the essays and Studio for the essays plus the templates, and locks the template posts for Studio alone.
- **A members' page that keeps itself.** A food writer asks her agent for a /membership page. It lists her tiers from the site, so when she changes a price in Settings, the page shows it.

## Questions

### How do I sell paid memberships on PixelGlass?

Connect Stripe, Paystack or Dodo Payments in Settings › Payments, make a tier with a price a month, a year or both, then set Who can read on the posts you want to sell to Paid members only or Specific tiers.

### Does PixelGlass take a fee on memberships?

No. PixelGlass takes no platform fee on what readers pay. Payments go to your own provider account, less that provider's own fees, and you pay PixelGlass a fixed monthly plan from $9.

### Where do readers choose a tier?

On the plans screen of your site, which the paywall and your theme's links open. Each tier shows its name, its description, what it includes and its prices, and the reader pays at your provider's checkout.

### Can I stop selling a tier?

Yes. Turn off On sale on the tier. It is archived: the people on it keep it, and new readers cannot choose it.

### Where do I see what memberships earn?

On the PixelGlass Dashboard. While a provider sells, owners and admins see the MRR and the earnings of the period beside the traffic.

### Can my agent set up my tiers?

No. On PixelGlass, the provider and the tiers are made by hand in Settings › Payments. An agent can then lock posts for your tiers and write the page that sells them.
