# One post. On the site and in the inbox.

> Publish a post to the site and email, or email it alone. Pick the list, the readers and the design, then send now or later. Your agent drafts it.

The publish page asks where a post goes: Site, Email, or Site and email. **Pick the list, the readers and the design**, then send it now or schedule it, and the email leaves when the post goes live.

## By hand, in the admin

1. In the editor, press **Publish**. The publish page shows the post as readers will see it.
2. Switch the preview to **Email**, choose **Classic** or **Plain**, and press **Send a test to me** to see it in your own inbox.
3. Under **Publish to**, choose **Site and email**, or **Email** to send it without putting it on the site. Press **Next**.
4. Pick the **Newsletter**. To reach part of it, tick **Labels**; to leave one reader out, find them under **Exclude**.
5. Under **When**, choose **Now**, or **Later** and a time. Press **Publish**, **Schedule** or **Send**.

Editors and above publish. A post goes only to the readers it is open to, so a post for paying members goes to paying members alone.

## With your agent

> Turn these notes into Thursday's issue and leave it as a draft for me to send.

> Read my draft “Spring tides” and make the opening paragraph shorter.

> Make this week's issue for paying members only before I send it.

The tools it calls: `create_post`, `get_post`, `start_editing_post`, `edit_post`, `finish_editing_post`, `update_post_settings`.

No tool sends an email. When your agent publishes a post, it goes to the site alone, so the send is yours, on the publish page.

## Examples

- **Email only, for the regulars.** A wine shop sends its monthly allocation as Email alone. **It never appears on the site**, and the campaign page still counts every open.
- **One label, one region.** A cycling club ticks the label North on the publish page, so the ride report goes only to the riders who live there.
- **Drafted by the agent, sent by hand.** An analyst's agent drafts the weekly note. She reads it in the Email preview, sends a test to herself, then presses Send.

## Questions

### How do I send a post as a newsletter on PixelGlass?

Press Publish in the PixelGlass editor, choose Site and email or Email under Publish to, then pick the newsletter and when it goes. The email leaves when the post goes live.

### Can I email a post without putting it on my site?

Yes. Choose Email under Publish to. PixelGlass sends the post to the list and marks it sent; it never appears on the site.

### Can I schedule a newsletter on PixelGlass?

Yes. Choose Later and a time on the publish page. The email starts when the post goes live at that minute, and Unschedule takes the send back with the post.

### Can I send a PixelGlass newsletter to part of my list?

Yes. Tick labels on the publish page, and the email goes only to readers on the list who wear one of them. You can also leave single readers out by name or address.

### What happens if my plan has too few emails left?

PixelGlass does not start the send. The publish page says how many emails it needs and how many are left; buy more on your account, $5 for 10,000, or send to fewer readers.
