# Three fields. The rest is written for you.

> Write the meta title and description, choose the address, add a share picture. PixelGlass writes the rest of the head. By hand or with your agent.

PixelGlass writes each page's head: the canonical link, share cards, structured data and the sitemap. **You choose the words a search result shows**, and the picture a shared link carries.

## By hand, in the admin

1. Open the post in the editor and press **Post settings**.
2. Under **Post URL**, keep the address short and in plain words.
3. Open **Meta data**. Write a **Meta title** and a **Meta description**. Left empty, the title and the excerpt are used.
4. Above the title, press **Upload** or **From the library** to add a feature image. It is the picture on the post's share card.
5. Publish. The post joins your sitemap at /sitemap.xml, and robots.txt points search engines to it.

## With your agent

> Give my post about the harbour walk a meta title under 60 characters and a meta description under 160.

> Find my published posts with no meta description and write one for each.

> Use the photo I upload as the feature image of “Ten years of the market”, with alt text.

The tools it calls: `list_posts`, `get_post`, `update_post_settings`, `upload_media`, `set_feature_image`.

## Examples

- **A title that fits the result.** A travel writer's post is called “What I learned in four days on foot”. Its meta title, **Walking the Kumano Kodo in four days**, says what a searcher typed.
- **A share card with a face.** A podcast host sets each episode's cover photo as the feature image, so every link shared to a chat shows the guest.
- **A tidy-up of the archive.** A gardening newsletter asks its agent for a meta description on every post that has none, a few hundred posts in one afternoon.

## Questions

### How do I set a meta title and description on PixelGlass?

Open the post's Post settings in the editor, open Meta data, and write the Meta title and Meta description. Without them, PixelGlass uses the post's title and its excerpt.

### What picture does a shared PixelGlass link show?

The post's feature image. A post without one shows the publication's cover, else its logo, so every share card has a picture.

### Does PixelGlass make a sitemap?

Yes. Every PixelGlass site serves /sitemap.xml, which lists separate sitemaps for posts, pages, tags and authors, and its robots.txt points to it.

### Does PixelGlass add structured data to posts?

Yes. Every post and page carries Article JSON-LD with its authors and a BreadcrumbList, and the home page carries WebSite JSON-LD.

### Can my agent write meta descriptions for me?

Yes. An editor's agent sets the meta title and description of any post with update_post_settings, after it reads the post with get_post.
