# Your role. Your agent's ceiling.

> An agent on PixelGlass works as the person who connected it, inside that person's role. See what each role allows, and what the agent refuses.

An agent gets no rights of its own on PixelGlass. **It acts as the person who connected it, inside that person's role**, and every change it makes to a post is a version you can restore.

## By hand, in the admin

1. Open **Settings › Staff** to see each person's role: Owner, Admin, Editor or Author.
2. Give each person the role their agent needs. An author writes drafts, an editor publishes, an admin changes the theme, the menus and the settings.
3. Open a post in the editor and press **History**. A change an agent made is marked **Via an agent**.
4. Press **Restore this version** on any version to put it back.

## With your agent

> Publish my harbour festival draft. If my role does not allow it, tell me who can.

> Fix the typos in “Market day”. If someone has it open, tell me who.

> Change the masthead colour to deep red.

The tools it calls: `start_editing_post`, `edit_post`, `publish_post`, `finish_editing_post`, `edit_theme_file`.

No agent tool reads the member list, the traffic, the comments or the payments. Those stay in the admin, with the people whose role may see them.

## Examples

- **An intern's agent.** A magazine's intern is an author. Her agent writes and changes her own drafts, and **an editor still decides what is published**.
- **The editor holds the pen.** An editor has a post open when his agent tries to write it. The agent is refused with his name, and says so in the chat.
- **A rollback after a bad edit.** A columnist's agent cuts the wrong paragraph. She opens History, finds the version before it and restores it.

## Questions

### What can an AI agent do on PixelGlass?

What the person who connected it may do. Authors write and change their own drafts, editors publish and change any post, and admins also change the theme, the menus, the site pages, the badges and the settings.

### Can an author's agent publish?

No. PixelGlass refuses with a sentence that names the person's role and says to ask someone with the role. An editor, an admin or the owner publishes.

### What happens when an agent writes a post I have open?

The write is refused with your name, and the agent tells the person who asked. An agent that marks a post with start_editing_post shows in the editor as writing it.

### Can I undo what an agent did?

Yes. Every agent change to a post is a version under your name, marked Via an agent, and PixelGlass keeps the newest 50 versions of each post. A theme's history keeps every change too.

### Can an agent see my members or my payments?

No. No PixelGlass agent tool reads the member list, the traffic, the comments or the payments.
