I spent three years on the core engineering team at Ghost® Foundation, and recently I built PixelGlass, an AI agent that designs custom Ghost themes. Now I'm building a portfolio for it. For the next month I'm taking on four people and designing their blog with them myself, for a fixed $999. ## What you get - A Ghost theme designed around your publication rather than picked off a marketplace shelf. - Me doing the work with you. You tell me what you want, I build it, you tell me what's wrong, I fix it. - A standard Ghost theme at the end of it. Every file readable, installed on your site, yours to keep. It runs whether or not PixelGlass does. - Your posts, members, and newsletter left exactly as they are. This changes how the site looks, not what's in it. ## How it works 1. You take a spot and send me your site. 2. We talk for half an hour about what you want it to feel like. A written brief works too if you'd rather not get on a call. 3. I design and build it, and you watch it take shape. 4. Two rounds of changes once it's standing up. 5. I install it on your site when you're happy with it. About two weeks from start to finish. ## Why it's $999 Custom Ghost work usually starts around $2,000 and takes weeks. I can go faster because PixelGlass does the heavy lifting and I know all the ins and outs of Ghost. The price is low because I need the portfolio more than I need the margin. In return I'd like to show your site as an example of what PixelGlass builds. If you'd rather I didn't, that's fine and the price is the same. I'd just rather ask than assume. ## Who it suits - You publish on Ghost and the theme is getting in your way. - You have a clear view of how the site should look and no practical way to get there. - You'd rather talk to a person than dig through a settings panel. It's the wrong thing to buy if you want a quick template swap. For that, use [PixelGlass](https://pixelglass.co/) on your own from $49.99 and drive it yourself. ## Take a spot [Book one of the four → $999](https://buy.stripe.com/fZu14mbrV1gYfQF3ZPejK00?ref=pixelglass.co) Questions first? Email me at [ronald@pixelglass.co](mailto:ronald@pixelglass.co) and ask. I answer these myself. ### Move your blog off WordPress URL: https://pixelglass.co/wordpress/ Last updated: 2026-08-18T07:19:12.000Z I'm Ronald. I spent three years on the core engineering team at Ghost® Foundation, and I built PixelGlass, an AI agent that designs custom Ghost themes. If you write on WordPress and the writing is the part you actually care about, this page is for you. I'll move you to Ghost for free, and design the theme with you for a fixed $999. ## Why Ghost Ghost is an open-source publishing platform run by a non-profit foundation. It's a blog, a newsletter and paid subscriptions in one app, rather than a theme with a stack of plugins holding it together. The editor is what people notice first. It's a quiet page that stays out of the way while you write, and the controls only turn up when you reach for them. After a few hundred posts, that matters more than any feature list. Most of what you've bolted on is already in it: newsletter, member signups, paid tiers, analytics. Nothing to renew every year. And Ghost takes 0% of subscription revenue — you pay Stripe and nobody else. ## The move is free - Posts, pages, images, tags and authors, brought across. - Your WordPress categories become Ghost tags, with the first one as the primary tag. - Redirects from your old URLs, so the pages that rank today keep ranking. - I do it. You don't export anything, read a migration guide, or touch the command line. Ghost's own importer handles up to 2,500 posts. Past that there are open-source migration tools and I've used them — tell me how big the site is and I'll tell you straight whether it's still free. ## What doesn't come across I'd rather say this now than after you've paid. - **A real shop.** Ghost sells member subscriptions, not a catalogue with a cart, variants and shipping. If WooCommerce is your business rather than a couple of ebooks, stay where you are — I'll tell you so. - **Custom post types**, and plugins that gate content their own way. - **Unusual shortcodes.** The common ones survive, including captions, code, audio and most Elementor and Divi blocks. The odd ones I fix by hand. - **Your old comment threads.** Ghost has its own comments for members, but the existing thread doesn't carry over. ## The theme is what you pay for A Ghost theme designed around your publication rather than picked off a marketplace shelf. Fixed $999 and I help you go from a site that looks like 1000s others, to your own unique Ghost site with memberships. What you end up with is a standard Ghost theme. Every file readable, installed on your site, yours to keep. It runs whether or not PixelGlass does. Custom Ghost work usually starts around $2,000 and takes weeks. I can go faster because PixelGlass does the heavy lifting and I know all the ins and outs of Ghost. The price is low because I need the portfolio more than I need the margin — I'm taking four people this month. In return I'd like to show your site as an example of what PixelGlass builds. If you'd rather I didn't, that's fine and the price is the same. I'd just rather ask than assume. ## Where it lives afterwards I can host it for you from $12 a month. Or take it anywhere that runs Ghost — it's a standard Ghost site and you're not locked to me. ## How it works 1. You take a spot and send me your site. 2. I move a copy across first, so you can write a post in it and see how Ghost feels before anything changes for your readers. 3. We talk for half an hour about what you want the site to feel like. A written brief works too if you'd rather not get on a call. 4. I design and build the theme, and you watch it take shape. 5. We switch the domain over when you're happy, with the redirects already in place. About two weeks from start to finish. ## Who it suits - You write far more than you sell. - You're maintaining a plugin stack you never wanted, to do things Ghost does on its own. - You already have an audience, and possibly a paid one, and you'd like to keep more of what it pays you. - You'd rather talk to a person than dig through a settings panel. ## Take a spot [Book one of the four → $999](https://buy.stripe.com/fZu14mbrV1gYfQF3ZPejK00?ref=pixelglass.co) Not sure yet? Email me at [ronald@pixelglass.co](mailto:ronald@pixelglass.co) and tell me what the site is. I'll tell you whether moving is a good idea, including when it isn't. I answer these myself. ## Posts ### Polls are here: the first of the Ghost®-first plugins URL: https://pixelglass.co/blog/polls-are-here/ Last updated: 2026-07-29T01:51:09.000Z ## Polls, the first of the Ghost-first plugins **Poll** — Are you an early bird or night owl? [Vote in this poll](https://plugins.pixelglass.co/p/d627f9c8-7af5-40c5-a151-87055a0f5da9?ref=pixelglass.co) Ask your readers that in the post itself, and watch the answers land. That's Polls, and it's the first plugin in a line PixelGlass is building specifically for Ghost. Until this week PixelGlass built themes and published them, and that was the whole product. A poll isn't a theme decision, though. It's a feature, and features belong to the site rather than the theme. So there's a plugin layer now, Polls is the first thing built through it, and more will follow the same way: made for Ghost rather than adapted from a generic embed. **Getting one into a post.** Copy the snippet, paste it in, publish. The poll renders inside the post wearing your theme: your accent colour, your real typeface (loaded properly, not just named by string), and light or dark to match the post it sits in. It loads lazily, so it costs your readers nothing until they scroll down to it. What Polls does: - **Polls and quizzes.** Early bird or night owl has no right answer, and the poll never pretends it does. A quiz does have one, and reveals it once a reader commits. - **Members-only polls.** Anyone can read the question; the vote and the results are reserved for members. Sign-in and sign-up are separate buttons, because most people meeting a members-only poll don't have an account yet. - **Results you control.** Show tallies after voting, after close, or never. - **A returning member sees the vote they already cast.** Reload the post and your selection is still on screen. ## Everything is scoped to your site now The app is now scoped to a site rather than to a single theme, behind a navigation rail with a site switcher that shows each connection's health. **Overview** is one screen for what's live on the site: which theme, when it shipped, and how many times you've published, with the full publish log behind it. PixelGlass records every publish now, so "what's live here, and when did it ship?" has an answer. **Site insights** reports three groups of numbers Ghost's own dashboard doesn't: - *Publishing rhythm.* Median cadence, current weekly streak, longest silence, and draft debt with the age of the oldest draft. - *Audience health.* Member mix, 30-day joins against the previous 30, members quiet for 90 days, never-seen signups, average open rate, and median free-to-paid time. - *Content structure.* Untagged posts, orphan tags, top-tag concentration, author split, and how much sits behind the paywall. ## The agent got better at reference sites - **It reads a site like a browser.** Point it at a reference site and it pulls the real copy instead of a soup of navigation and footer text. Sites that used to reject the fetch outright now let it through. - **It can clone a site's brand assets.** Ask it to take a logo or brand image from a reference site and it downloads it straight into your theme. Text content stays off-limits, and rights to any asset are yours. - **It hands settings back to you instead of guessing.** When a request touches something you own, like accent, fonts, logo, routes, or preview content, the agent opens the right panel rather than baking a value into the theme. That handoff is free; you're not charged for a turn that only opened a panel. - **Click an element and the agent knows what it looks like.** The selection chip carries the element's live rendered styles: font, size, weight, colour, background, radius, padding. So "what is it currently?" gets answered from what's on screen. ## A fresh coat The app now looks like pixelglass.co: the same navy ink, blue-to-violet accent, and Space Grotesk and Instrument Sans type. ## Fixed - **Login failing outright** for a small set of accounts whose verification timestamp was written in the wrong format. Every request touching those rows errored, including the login lookup. Repaired. - **Ghost(Pro) sites on a custom domain.** Your admin address and the address your readers are on are two different origins, and we treated them as one. Left alone it would have blocked reader-facing features on the most common paid Ghost setup, and rejected genuine signed-in members as signed out. ### Custom Fonts: pick your type, or bring your own URL: https://pixelglass.co/blog/custom-fonts-pick-your-type-or-bring-your-own/ Last updated: 2026-07-21T01:44:00.000Z Your theme's fonts, your choice, in seconds. Custom Fonts is live in the Builder: set the heading and body type yourself, pick from a curated library or bring your own, and watch the preview change as you go — no AI turn, no waiting. ![](https://pixelglass.co/content/images/2026/07/Screenshot-2026-07-21-at-10.41.47---am.png) Type is the fastest way to make a theme feel like yours. Now it's a decision you make directly. Open the **Design** panel in the top bar, find **Typography**, and choose a **Heading font** and a **Body font**. The moment you pick, the live preview redraws in the new type. ## Pick from the library — or bring your own Start with the curated catalog: over 40 hand-picked Google fonts, browsable by category — **Sans, Serif, Display, Mono, Handwriting** — or searchable by name. Every option previews in its own typeface, so you're reading the font itself, not a label beside it. Inter, Playfair Display, Merriweather, Bebas Neue, JetBrains Mono, Pacifico — real families, ready to drop in. They're served through Bunny Fonts, a privacy-first, GDPR-safe mirror of Google Fonts — the same typefaces, without the privacy headache. Already have a brand typeface? Bring it. Upload your own font files — `.woff2`, `.woff`, `.ttf`, or `.otf`. Tag each file's weight and style — Regular, Bold, Italic, Bold Italic — with up to four variants per role, and it's yours to use like any other font. ![](https://pixelglass.co/content/images/2026/07/Screenshot-2026-07-21-at-10.42.42---am.png) Changed your mind? **“Clear — use theme default”** puts a role back to the font the theme shipped with. No undo-hunting. ## It travels with your theme This isn't a preview-only trick. When you choose a font, the Builder writes a managed stylesheet into the theme and wires it to the custom-font variables built into Ghost® itself. So when you export your theme and install it on a real Ghost site, the fonts come with it and keep working exactly as you set them. What you design in the preview is what your readers see. ## What it covers today Custom Fonts is focused on purpose. You're setting the two fonts that carry a theme — headings and body — not per-element type for nav or buttons, and library picks come in regular and bold weights. Those are the two choices that change how a whole theme feels, and now they take seconds instead of a settings maze. Open your theme in the Builder, click **Design**, and find **Typography**. Give it new type and watch the whole preview shift under your cursor. ### Changelog - 18 July 2026 URL: https://pixelglass.co/blog/changelog-18-july-2026/ Last updated: 2026-07-17T23:17:29.000Z Happy weekend! Thank you for the great feedback I received over the past week. From emails, to video recordings, calls and even featured in a [Blog post](https://www.swissinnovation.academy/why-pixelglass-is-a-promising-ghost-theme-builder/?utm%5Fsource=podia&utm%5Fmedium=email&utm%5Fcampaign=3148957), I'm so inspired to have this amount of interest in [PixelGlass](https://pixelglass.co/) and I'm working around the clock to make it the best theme builder for Ghost Publishers out there. Here's a summary of the changes over the past week. ## New frontier model added PixelGlass is now much smarter and token efficient. It has much better knowledge on Ghost and design than before and is even more optimised to make your credits go further. ## Edit mode: point at it, change it The editor now has a WYSWYG (What you see what you get) Edit Mode. Flip it on and your theme becomes something you shape by hand: - **Point-and-prompt.** Click any section and tell the AI what to change about exactly that spot — no more describing where things are. - **Move sections instantly.** You can now move sections up and down. - **Duplicate and delete sections.** Two clicks from the section tab. No prompt needed. - **Edit text right in the preview.** Click into a headline or paragraph and just type, and an insert palette for adding new elements from Ghost. - **Your Ghost content is protected.** Text that comes from your actual posts and settings (titles, excerpts, site name) can't be overwritten by accident. ## The preview runs Ghost's real apps What you see in the preview is now much closer to what your readers get: - **Portal, Search, and Comments** render live inside the preview — the same apps a real Ghost site runs, wired up automatically when memberships are on. - **Preview as a member.** Switch between Anonymous, Free, and Paid viewers to see exactly what each audience sees, one-to-one with Ghost. - **Live accent color.** Change your accent in the Design panel and Portal and Comments recolour on the spot, just like real Ghost. - Comments now follow your theme's dark and light modes correctly. ## Smarter conversations - **Multiple chat sessions per theme.** Start a fresh conversation without losing the old one. - **Restore.** Every reply in the chat now carries a Restore button — roll your theme back to that exact moment. Also a feedback option that sends us the context we need to actually help should the AI not have responded what it intended. - The AI now keeps track of what it has already done, so it won't accidentally re-apply an old request you've since moved past. ## Fixes and polish - The preview's page dropdown follows you as you click around inside the theme, and Edit mode no longer jumps you back to the homepage. - History stays fresh after section moves. 🏁 Try it out now, login to your account on [PixelGlass](https://pixelglass.co/) and give it a spin. ### Custom visual route.yaml builder for Ghost URL: https://pixelglass.co/blog/custom-ghost-routing-built-visually/ Last updated: 2026-07-15T00:49:15.000Z Every Ghost site has a `routes.yaml` file quietly deciding what lives where — which URL is your blog, whether `/podcast/` is its own section, how tag archives are laid out. Ghost gives you exactly one way to change it: hand-edit a YAML file and upload it to **Settings → Labs → Routes**, with no preview, no validation, and no undo. Get a line wrong and you can break your entire site. We just shipped a way to build that file visually instead. As far as we can tell, no other Ghost theme builder - lets you configure custom routing through a UI with a live preview. Here's why we built it, and what it does. ## The problem: routing is Ghost's sharpest edge Custom collections, custom pages, tag/author archive patterns, permalink structures — all of it lives in one YAML file, and Ghost treats it like a black box: - **No dry run.** The file goes straight to production. You find out if it worked by refreshing the live site. - **Failures are often silent, not loud.** A `template:` that doesn't exist doesn't error — it quietly falls back to `index`. A custom URL that collides with a real page or post slug doesn't warn you — Ghost just serves one and hides the other. - **You need to already know the SYNTAX.** Permalink placeholders like `{primary_tag}`, NQL filter syntax, the `data:` shorthand — none of it is discoverable, all of it is YAML-indentation-sensitive. For PixelGlass's users — people who want a great Ghost site without becoming a Ghost internals expert — that's a wall. Custom routing was effectively "ask an engineer" on the team - or not use this feature at all! ![](https://pixelglass.co/content/images/2026/07/Screenshot-2026-07-15-at-8.32.27---am.png) The old way — hand-editing routes.yaml blind, with production as the only place to test it. ## The fix: a Routes tab, right next to Preview and Code Custom routing is now a first-class part of the PixelGlass Builder. Open a theme and there's a new **Routes** tab alongside Preview and Code, with two ways to work: ### Form view — plain language, zero YAML By default you never see a line of YAML. You build "content sections" (custom collections like `/blog/` or `/podcast/`) and custom pages from cards and dropdowns: - **Permalink presets** in plain English — "post name," "under a folder," "by date," "by tag" — instead of memorizing placeholder tokens. - **"Which posts" filters** built from your *actual* tags and authors — pick from a real dropdown of your content, not a blank text field. - **Tag and author archive patterns**, customizable or reset to Ghost's defaults. Anything more advanced that the form can't author yet — a custom controller channel, a longhand data query, an XML feed's `content_type` — is never dropped. It's preserved byte-for-byte and shown as a gentle "edit in Advanced" hint. Round-trip fidelity between Form and YAML is a tested invariant, not a best-effort. ![](https://pixelglass.co/content/images/2026/07/Screenshot-2026-07-15-at-8.35.20---am.png) The Form view - a custom "Blog" section card, permalink preset, and a which-posts filter built from real tags. ### Advanced view - for when you want the YAML Prefer to write YAML directly? The Advanced view is a full Monaco editor with live, debounced validation as you type — findings grouped into errors and warnings, gutter markers, click-to-jump. Import an existing file, fix what's flagged, download the verified result. ![](https://pixelglass.co/content/images/2026/07/Screenshot-2026-07-15-at-8.36.49---am.png) ## What makes this different from "just linting YAML" **1\. Validation is grounded in your real site, not just YAML syntax.** The checks run against your theme's actual template files and your connected Ghost site's actual page, post, tag, and author slugs. So it catches things a syntax linter never could: a `template:` that doesn't exist and would silently fall back to `index`; a custom URL that collides with a real slug and would make Ghost hide one of them; overlapping collections that would break pagination. Every check is false-positive-safe when it can't ground itself — it degrades to a warning rather than crying wolf. **2\. Routing changes actually render in the live preview — something Ghost itself cannot do.** This is the part we think is genuinely unmatched. Before this, PixelGlass's preview engine routed pages through a hardcoded switch and ignored `routes.yaml` entirely — same as every other page builder. Now there's a real compiled routing table behind the preview: custom collections paginate, permalink patterns resolve, taxonomies render, exactly as they will in production. You see your custom `/blog/` section, your renamed tag archive, your redirect — *before* you ship it. Ghost's own admin has no equivalent. **3\. The AI won't quietly rewrite your URLs out from under you.** You can also just ask PixelGlass's AI chat to restructure your routing conversationally — "split my posts into a blog and a newsletter section." Because a routing change can break live URLs (yours or ones already shared/indexed), the agent is hard-constrained to stop, explain the consequence in one plain sentence — "this moves your posts from `/my-post/` to `/blog/my-post/`, so old links would break unless redirected — go ahead?" — and wait for a yes. It won't do it silently, even though "just build it" is the agent's normal default everywhere else. ## One more thing we made sure you can’t miss Ghost has a quirk almost nobody knows: `routes.yaml` is *never* applied by installing a theme — not via a ZIP upload, not via the Admin API. It only takes effect if you manually upload it into Settings → Labs → Routes yourself. So we added a callout in both the Export and Publish flows that surfaces the moment you have custom routing configured, telling you exactly where to paste it — instead of letting anyone lose their carefully built routing on export and never know why. ## Try it Open any theme in the Builder and click the new **Routes** tab. Build a custom collection in Form view, watch it route live in the preview, and download a file you can upload to your live site with actual confidence — the first time that's been true for Ghost routing, visually or otherwise. ### Changelog, 9 July 2026 URL: https://pixelglass.co/blog/changelog-9-july-2026/ Last updated: 2026-07-09T11:12:28.000Z Hi Everyone! It's been a really busy few days, with a ton of traffic and amazing feedback - here's everything that shipped so far — the big new feature, the smaller stuff, and the many bugs we squashed. Lots of exciting stuff! ## New - **Visual routing editor.** Build custom Ghost URLs — blog sections, custom pages, tag/author archive patterns — from a plain-language form, with a live preview that actually renders your routes before you ship them. No YAML required. Keep an eye out for the explainer email. 😄 ## Improved - **AI turns are noticeably faster and less of a black box.** The agent now makes surgical edits to existing files instead of rewriting them wholesale, turns for different users no longer queue behind each other, and you'll see live status ("thinking…", "writing theme files…") plus an incrementally updating preview. - **Default Tailwind theme improvements:** a proper author-archive page, a shared post grid used consistently across the theme, and pages/fonts that now correctly follow your Ghost settings instead of being hardcoded. - **More reliable theme builds** — a batch of behind-the-scenes reliability work means builds are much less likely to fail for infrastructure reasons unrelated to your theme. ## Fixed - **Stale content after disconnecting a Ghost site.** Removing a connected site could leave its old content showing in an already-open theme editor. Fixed — it now clears immediately. - **Dropped connections and unexplained long waits during big AI writes.** Long file-writing turns could look frozen and occasionally show a spurious "connection lost" error. Fixed with a proper status label and a stable connection during those stretches. I identified users affected and you'll be credited accordingly. - **Uploaded/prebuilt themes wrongly flagged as "failed."** Themes uploaded with pre-built assets (but no build source) were incorrectly auto-rebuilt and shown as broken, even though they worked fine. They now show an honest "using shipped assets" status. - **Occasional stalls affecting everyone's AI turns** when a turn included large image attachments. Fixed at the source — it no longer affects other users' turns in progress. 📧 Feedback, Suggestions, Help? Reply directly to this email. In all that time one thing never changed: creators love Ghost, but they can't get a blog that feels like *them*, and moves like them, without paying a developer thousands. Pixelglass is the tool I always wished existed. ## Your writing keeps moving. A template doesn't. A marketplace template is one fixed design, sold to thousands of sites — the same hero, the same three feature boxes, the same newsletter bar you've seen on fifty other blogs. And it's frozen the day you install it. Your archive grows, your best work shifts, your topics multiply — but the layout just sits there. Your writing is one of a kind. Your blog shouldn't come off a shelf. ## A sentence in. A living blog out. Pixelglass builds you a real Ghost blog from your own words. Describe the look, the sections, the feel — then keep shaping it just by talking. You watch it take shape in a live preview beside the chat. No settings to hunt through, no code to write. It isn't a one-prompt magic trick. You start from a real, working Ghost theme and refine it in conversation — move a section, change the type, add an archive for a topic you write about — until it's yours. ## What "dynamic" actually means Most Ghost themes are static: whatever you upload is what your readers get, forever. A Pixelglass blog has living sections that read from your real posts and keep up as you publish: - Your featured or pinned posts up top - An archive for each topic you write about - Related reads at the foot of every article - Your latest from the last few days, front and center All of it rendered by Ghost from your live content — so the page moves with your writing instead of freezing on install day. Same standard Ghost format; none of the sameness. ## See it for yourself Three real, live Ghost sites, each built with Pixelglass. Open one and poke around: - [Sassy](https://sassy.pixelglass.co/?ref=pixelglass.co) — a sharp, warm culture magazine. - [Zigzag](https://zigzag.pixelglass.co/?ref=pixelglass.co) — surf stories from the edge of the map. - [Momentum](https://momentum.pixelglass.co/?ref=pixelglass.co) — a Sunday leadership newsletter. ## Simple, one-time pricing Buy credits once — no subscription, and they don't expire. Credits are metered by usage: a quick tweak costs a little, a bigger change costs more, and looking around is free. A full theme runs around 100 credits. - **Micro** — $9.99 · 18 credits - **Maker** — $24.99 · 50 credits (most popular) - **Studio** — $49.99 · 110 credits - **Bulk** — $99.99 · 240 credits - **Agency** — $199.99 · 520 credits Set against a marketplace template (\~$99 for one design sold to thousands) or a custom developer ($2,000+ over weeks), it's a different category at a fraction of the cost. ## Life's too short for a template Describe the blog you actually want, and watch Pixelglass build it from your own words.
