Running a publication

Bring the writers.
Give each a role.

Invite a person by email and choose their role: author, editor or admin. The role is the ceiling, for the person and for their agent. Every plan takes as many staff as you like.

Say it to your agent

Which of my posts are drafts by authors, waiting for an editor to publish them?

  • list_posts
  • update_post_settings
  • publish_post

Two ways to do it.

By hand

In the admin

  1. As the owner or an admin, open Settings › Staff.
  2. Under Invite someone, type the person's Email and choose a Role: Author, Editor or Admin.
  3. Press Send invitation. The person gets an email with a link that works for 7 days.
  4. They open it, type their name, choose a password and press Join the team.
  5. To change a role later, open the person's profile from the staff list and choose a new Role. An invitation not yet accepted has Withdraw.

With your agent

In Claude, ChatGPT or your editor

Which of my posts are drafts by authors, waiting for an editor to publish them?

Make Sam and Ana the authors of the post about the spring menu.

Publish the drafts that Ana finished this week.

The tools it calls

  • list_posts
  • update_post_settings
  • publish_post

An agent cannot invite anyone or change a role: that is the owner's and the admins' work, in Settings › Staff. Each person who joins can connect an agent of their own, which works inside their role.

For example

  • A food magazine's desk

An editor in chief invites four writers as authors and one editor. The writers draft; the editor publishes.

  • An admin for the look

A newsletter founder invites a designer as an admin, so he can change the theme and the settings. The domain and the billing stay hers.

  • Agents with the same limits

A freelance author connects Claude. It drafts her posts and edits her own drafts, and it is refused when it tries to publish.

Questions, answered

How do I add staff to a PixelGlass publication?
Open Settings › Staff, type the person's email, choose a role and press Send invitation. They join from the link in the email, which works for 7 days.
What can each role do on PixelGlass?
An author writes and edits their own drafts. An editor publishes and edits anyone's posts. An admin also manages people, settings and themes. The owner does everything, including the domain and billing.
Does PixelGlass charge per seat?
No. Every PixelGlass plan takes as many staff as you invite; the plans differ only in newsletter emails and storage.
Can an invitation make someone the owner?
No. A PixelGlass site has one owner, and an invitation offers author, editor or admin. Ownership moves only by a transfer.
What can a staff member's agent do?
Exactly what that person may do. On PixelGlass an agent acts as the person who connected it, so an author's agent writes drafts and is refused a publish.
Can I see who on the team did what?
Yes. Settings › Audit log lists every invitation, every person who joined and every role changed, with who did it.
