Design and themes

Every change kept.
Any one brought back.

A PixelGlass theme keeps its whole history, whoever made the change: you, a teammate or an agent. A restore puts an earlier version back as a new step, so nothing in the history is lost.

Say it to your agent

Take my theme back to how it looked yesterday morning.

  • theme_history
  • restore_theme_revision
  • render_page

Two ways to do it.

By hand

In the admin

  1. Open Settings › Design. Under Theme, press History on the theme's row.
  2. Each version shows when, whose hand and the files it changed. Now marks the one readers see; Held marks one that waits.
  3. Press Show to see that version in the frame. Back to now returns to the latest.
  4. Press Restore on the version you want. It goes live once the theme is whole.

History is on a theme that someone has edited. The logo, the accent and the theme's settings are saved apart from its files, and change in Settings › Design.

With your agent

In Claude, ChatGPT or your editor

What changed in my theme this week, and who changed it?

Undo this morning's masthead change on Atlas.

Restore harbour to the version before the font change, then show me the home page.

The tools it calls

  • theme_history
  • restore_theme_revision
  • render_page

For example

  • Monday's experiment, gone by Tuesday

A newsletter's agent tries a bold new header. The readers' replies are cool, and one Restore brings back last week's.

  • A teammate's edit, checked first

An admin sees a version by a colleague in History, presses Show to look at it in the frame, and keeps it.

  • An update taken back

A coach updates her theme to its new release, dislikes the new footer and restores the version from before the update.

Questions, answered

Can I undo a theme change on PixelGlass?
Yes. In Settings › Design, press History on the theme, then Restore on the version you want. An agent does the same with theme_history and restore_theme_revision.
Does a restore delete the changes after it?
No. A PixelGlass restore is a new step with the old files, so the history keeps every version and you can restore a later one again.
Can I see an old version before I restore it?
Yes. Show on a version in History puts it in the Design frame, on your own site. Back to now returns to the latest.
Does History undo my logo or my accent colour?
No. History covers the theme's files. The logo, the accent and the theme's settings are saved apart, in Settings › Design.
Who can restore a theme?
The owner or an admin, by hand or through their agent. A theme that builds goes live again once its build succeeds.
