Writing and publishing

Write it down.
Send it out.

A post on PixelGlass starts as a draft that saves as you type. When it is ready, the publish page shows it in your theme, and you choose the site, the email or both.

Say it to your agent

Turn my notes below into a post called “What the river taught me”, tag it Field notes, and send me the preview.

  • create_post
  • update_post_settings
  • publish_post

Two ways to do it.

By hand

In the admin

  1. Press New post in the navbar. Type the title, press Enter for the subtitle, and Enter again for the body.
  2. Add pictures, video, callouts and buttons from the Blocks menu, or from the column of cards beside the page. The draft saves as you type.
  3. Open Post settings for the address, the tags, who can read it, and the meta title and description.
  4. Press Publish. The publish page shows the post in your theme. With a newsletter, choose Site, Email or Site and email, then press Next.
  5. Under When, keep Now and press Publish.

With your agent

In Claude, ChatGPT or your editor

Write a draft from the notes below, call it “Ten things the river taught me”, and tag it Field notes.

Turn this interview transcript into a post with three subheadings, then send me the preview link.

Publish the draft about the spring menu now.

The tools it calls

  • create_post
  • update_post_settings
  • publish_post

For example

  • A bakery's weekly bake list

A baker dictates the week's breads into her phone. Her agent makes the draft and tags it, and she reads the preview and presses Publish.

  • A long essay, one sitting at a time

A historian writes over a month. The draft saves as he types, and he publishes to the site and the newsletter on the same morning.

Questions, answered

How do I publish a post on PixelGlass?
Press Publish in the editor. The publish page shows the post in your theme; choose where it goes, press Next, keep When on Now and press Publish.
Does PixelGlass save my drafts?
Yes. A draft saves as you type, and Post history keeps the last 50 versions of every post. A published post saves when you press Update.
Who can publish on PixelGlass?
Editors, admins and the owner publish. An author writes and saves drafts, and an editor publishes them.
Can I see a post before it goes live?
Yes. Preview in the editor shows the post in your theme on a desktop, on a phone and as an email, and the publish page shows it again before you choose.
Can my agent write and publish a post on PixelGlass?
Yes. Your agent writes a draft from Markdown with create_post, as you, and an editor's agent publishes it with publish_post. The agent puts the post on the site; to email it, use the publish page.
