Newsletters

One field.
A confirmed reader.

A subscribe form on PixelGlass takes an address, mails it one link, and puts the reader on your lists when they confirm. Nobody gets a newsletter on a stranger's word.

Say it to your agent

Add a subscribe form under every post, in the style of my theme.

  • list_themes
  • read_theme_file
  • edit_theme_file
  • render_page

Two ways to do it.

By hand

In the admin

  1. In Settings › Audience, keep Let readers sign up and sign in on. With it off, no form shows.
  2. In Newsletters, turn on Subscribe newcomers automatically for the lists a form joins when the reader picks none.
  3. Use a theme that carries a form: Atlas puts one on its front page. For a form in another place, ask an admin's agent, as below.
  4. A reader types an address and presses the button. They get one email, and join your lists when they press Confirm subscription.

The form is part of the theme and wears its style. The confirm email and the confirm screen are PixelGlass's, in your theme's colours and fonts.

With your agent

In Claude, ChatGPT or your editor

Add a subscribe form under every post, in the style of my theme.

Put a subscribe form in my footer with a box for each of my newsletters.

Make a /join page with a short pitch for the newsletter and a subscribe form.

The tools it calls

  • list_themes
  • read_theme_file
  • edit_theme_file
  • render_page
  • write_site_page

Changes to the theme and to site pages are an admin's. The agent follows PixelGlass's form contract, so the confirm email, the lists and the double opt-in stay the platform's.

For example

  • A box under each recipe

A cooking site's agent adds a form under every post. Readers join without leaving the recipe.

  • A join page for a podcast

A podcast's agent writes a /join page with the show's pitch and one form, and the hosts read its address at the end of every episode.

Questions, answered

How do I add a subscribe form on PixelGlass?
Use a theme that has a subscribe form, or ask an admin's agent to add one to your theme or to a page of its own. The form posts to your site, and PixelGlass sends the confirm email and joins the lists.
Do subscribers confirm their address on PixelGlass?
Yes. PixelGlass mails each new address one link, and the reader joins your lists only when they press Confirm subscription. Confirming also signs them in.
Which newsletter does a subscribe form join?
The lists the form names, or the ones the reader ticks. A form that names none joins every list with Subscribe newcomers automatically on.
Can I put a PixelGlass subscribe form on another website?
No. The form must be on your PixelGlass site; a form sent from another site is refused.
Does the reader leave the page when they subscribe?
No. The form sends in the background and then asks the reader to check their inbox. Without script, the reader sees a Check your inbox page instead.
