Newsletters

Start the list.
Send the first issue.

Every PixelGlass site starts with one newsletter, named after the publication, that new readers join when they sign up. Rename it, add more, and send any post to it from the publish page.

Say it to your agent

Turn my notes into the first issue of my newsletter, and leave it as a draft for me to send.

  • create_post
  • update_post_settings
  • list_plans

Two ways to do it.

By hand

In the admin

  1. In Settings › Audience, check that Let readers sign up and sign in is on. A new site has it on.
  2. Open Newsletters on the sidebar. Your site already has one list; open it to rename it, or press New newsletter.
  3. Give it a name and a description. Turn on Subscribe newcomers automatically, so every reader who signs up joins it.
  4. On a new list, keep Subscribe everyone already in your audience on to add every confirmed reader at once. Press Save.
  5. Write a post, press Publish, and choose Site and email to send it to the list.

An admin makes the lists; editors and above send. During the free trial without a card, a post goes to the site alone, and email waits for a plan.

With your agent

In Claude, ChatGPT or your editor

Turn these notes into the first issue of my newsletter and leave it as a draft.

Make the first issue for members only, so signing up is the way to read it.

How many newsletter emails a month does each PixelGlass plan include?

The tools it calls

  • create_post
  • update_post_settings
  • list_plans

No tool makes a list or sends an email. Your agent writes the issue and sets who can read it; you send it from the publish page.

For example

  • A bakery's Friday letter

A bakery renames its first list to The Friday Loaf and sends each week's bake by email alone, never on the site.

  • A club that already has members

A surf club opens its new list with Subscribe everyone already in your audience on, so the two hundred riders who signed up get the first issue.

Questions, answered

How do I start a newsletter on PixelGlass?
Open Newsletters in the PixelGlass admin. Every site starts with one list, named after the publication; rename it or press New newsletter. Then publish a post with Site and email, and it goes to that list.
Who gets my PixelGlass newsletter?
The readers on the list whose address is confirmed. A reader who signs up joins every list with Subscribe newcomers automatically on, and a post goes only to the readers it is open to.
Do I need a separate email tool for a newsletter on PixelGlass?
No. The lists, the sends, the unsubscribe links and the numbers are all in PixelGlass. Plans include from 10,000 to 1,000,000 newsletter emails a month.
Can I send a newsletter during the PixelGlass free trial?
Not during the 14-day trial without a card. A post goes to the site alone until the site has a plan, and then the publish page offers email.
Can my agent start a newsletter for me?
Your agent writes the issues and sets who can read them, but it cannot make a list or send an email. An admin makes lists under Newsletters, and an editor sends from the publish page.
