Getting started

Name it.
Give it a look.

A new PixelGlass site asks four things: what it is called, what it publishes in, how it looks and whether readers pay. Answer them in the welcome walk, or let your agent ask them for you. Everything stays yours to change in Settings.

Say it to your agent

Set up my publication with me. It is a weekly letter about urban gardening.

  • start_setup
  • update_publication
  • upload_media
  • create_theme

Two ways to do it.

By hand

In the admin

  1. Open the admin as the owner. The welcome screen offers your agent first; press Set up without an agent.
  2. Under Your publication, type the name and, if you like, a one-line description and a logo.
  3. Under Languages, choose what you publish in and which language comes first.
  4. Under The look, choose the theme closest to what you want. The preview beside the walk wears every answer as you give it.
  5. Under Getting paid, connect Stripe, Paystack or Dodo Payments, or choose Not yet. Press Start publishing.
  6. Change any of it later: the name, the line, the time zone and the languages in Settings › General; the logo, the icon, the accent and the theme in Settings › Design.

With your agent

In Claude, ChatGPT or your editor

Set up my publication with me. It is a weekly letter about urban gardening.

Call it Rooftop Rows, with the line “Food grown three floors up”, and use the logo I attached.

We publish in English first and Spanish second.

Show me three directions for the look, and build the one I pick.

The tools it calls

  • start_setup
  • update_publication
  • upload_media
  • create_theme
  • activate_theme

Setting up is an admin's work: start_setup and update_publication refuse an editor or an author. The method PixelGlass hands the agent says to publish nothing and switch no theme until you say so.

For example

  • A garden letter, by hand

A grower types the name and the line, picks the theme closest to a seed catalogue and presses Start publishing. Three starter posts and an About page are there to rewrite.

  • Two languages from the first day

An architect in Lisbon puts Portuguese first and English second. Her plain addresses are Portuguese, and the English ones carry /en.

  • Directions before a draft

A podcast host answers a few questions in Claude, chooses one of three directions, and gets a whole first draft of the site to react to.

Questions, answered

How do I set up a new publication on PixelGlass?
Open the admin as the owner. The PixelGlass welcome walk asks for the name, the languages, the theme and whether readers will pay, beside a live preview. Or connect your agent there, and it asks the same questions with you.
Where do I change the name and the logo later?
On PixelGlass, the name, the description, the time zone and the languages are in Settings › General. The logo, the icon, the cover, the accent colour and the theme are in Settings › Design.
What does PixelGlass put on a new site?
When you finish the welcome walk by hand, PixelGlass adds three starter posts and an About page, for you to rewrite or delete.
Who can set up a PixelGlass publication?
The welcome walk is the owner's. After it, the owner and the admins change the settings, and an agent does it as the person who connected it, inside that person's role.
Can my agent set up my publication?
Yes. Say “set up my publication” to Claude, ChatGPT or a coding agent connected to your PixelGlass site. It calls start_setup, asks a few questions, shows two or three directions and builds a first draft with you.
