Newsletters

Two designs.
Built for the inbox.

PixelGlass makes the email form of each post when it sends. Classic sets the post on a card in your theme's fonts and accent; Plain reads like a letter, in the reader's own mail app.

Say it to your agent

Tighten my draft so it reads well in an inbox: short paragraphs, one picture and a clear first line.

  • get_post
  • start_editing_post
  • edit_post
  • replace_post

Two ways to do it.

By hand

In the admin

  1. In the editor, press Publish, and switch the preview to Email.
  2. Press Classic or Plain to see the post in each design. The size shows beside it, with a warning past 102 KB, where Gmail clips an email.
  3. Press Send a test to me to get the email in your own inbox, its subject marked [TEST].
  4. Under Publish to, choose an email, then pick the design under Email design. Every copy of the send wears it.
  5. To change the colour of links and quote lines in Classic, pick the accent in Settings › Design, under Brand.

The subject is the post's title, and the inbox preview line is its excerpt: the subtitle, or else the first paragraph.

With your agent

In Claude, ChatGPT or your editor

Tighten my draft so it reads well in an inbox: short paragraphs, one picture and a clear first line.

Give my draft a subtitle that says in one line what this issue is about.

The tools it calls

  • get_post
  • start_editing_post
  • edit_post
  • replace_post
  • update_post_settings
  • finish_editing_post

No tool picks the email's design or sends a test: the design is chosen for each send on the publish page. Your agent shapes the post that fills it.

For example

  • A letter, not a layout

A founder sends a monthly update in Plain. It looks like an email from a person, and it turns dark when the reader's mail app does.

  • A magazine in the inbox

A travel magazine sends in Classic: the site's name, the cover, the byline and the story on one card, in the theme's fonts.

  • Under the clip

A photographer sees 130 KB beside the preview, takes out three pictures, and sends a test before the real send.

Questions, answered

How do I change the design of my newsletter email on PixelGlass?
On the publish page, choose an email under Publish to and pick Classic or Plain under Email design. The preview shows the email in each design before you send.
What is the difference between Classic and Plain?
Classic puts the site's name, the title, the byline, the cover and the post on a card, in your theme's fonts and accent. Plain is a letter with no masthead or cover, in the reader's own font and colours.
Does a PixelGlass newsletter work in dark mode?
The Plain design sets no background or text colour, so a mail app in dark mode shows it dark. The Classic design keeps its own page colours.
Can I see the email before I send it?
Yes. The publish page's Email preview shows the email as PixelGlass will send it, with its size, and Send a test to me mails it to you with [TEST] in the subject.
What happens to cards and blocks in the email?
Callouts and buttons have an email form, a video shows as its picture with a link, and an interactive block becomes a line that leads to the post. Scripts and frames never go in a PixelGlass email.
