Paid memberships

Free for a while.
Paid when it counts.

A trial is a number of free days on a tier. The reader reads every paid post from the first day, and the provider takes the first payment when the trial ends.

Say it to your agent

Add a line under each tier on my membership page that says how many days it is free.

  • read_site_page
  • edit_site_page
  • render_page
  • create_post

Two ways to do it.

By hand

In the admin

  1. Open Settings › Payments and press the tier.
  2. In Free trial, days, type the number of free days, up to 365. 0 is no trial.
  3. Press Save. The list of tiers shows the trial beside the prices.
  4. On your site's plans screen, the tier now says how many days are free.

The trial field shows while Stripe or Dodo Payments is connected. Paystack has no trials, so with Paystack the field is not there.

With your agent

In Claude, ChatGPT or your editor

Add a line under each tier on my /membership page that says how many days it is free.

Draft a post that tells readers the Studio tier now starts with a free month, with a link to the plans.

The tools it calls

  • read_site_page
  • edit_site_page
  • render_page
  • create_post

No tool changes a tier, so the trial itself is set by hand in Settings › Payments. A site page reads each tier's trial days from the site, so the words your agent writes there stay true when you change the number.

For example

  • A week to try the deep dives

A markets analyst gives her Pro tier a 7-day trial. New readers get a week of the full archive before the first charge.

  • A free month for a launch

A podcast's companion newsletter sets a 30-day trial for its launch, then sets it back to 0 when the launch is over.

Questions, answered

How do I offer a free trial on PixelGlass?
Open the tier in Settings › Payments, type the number of free days in Free trial, days, and save. The plans screen then shows how many days are free.
How long can a free trial be on PixelGlass?
Up to 365 days, set on each tier. 0 means the tier has no trial.
Can a reader on a trial read paid posts?
Yes. On PixelGlass, a member on a trial counts as paying, so they read every post for paying members and for their tier while the trial runs.
Which payment providers support trials on PixelGlass?
Stripe and Dodo Payments. Paystack has no trials, so the trial field does not show while Paystack is connected.
Where does a member see when the trial ends?
On their account page on your site, which says the tier they are on and the day it is free until.
